Kombinat KMAruda (to be included in IMH) has completed construction of the first large object’s new mine – cage shaft with complex of over-mine buildings.
At the cage shaft site, the hoisting machine house, the main air-heater unit, the over-mine building with the head frame and the material unloading warehouse were completed. These facilities are operating in the commissioning works.
The shaft with the cage winding was driven to a depth of 454 m from the daylight surface. The purpose of the shaft is to lower and lift people, materials and equipment and to supply a fresh air flow.
Construction of the cage shaft is part of the project to increase iron ore production at KMAruda from 4.8 to 7 million tons per year by engaging the reserves of the lower horizons of the Gubkin mine. The new shaft will consist of four horizons: a ventilation-drilling (-160 m from sea level), drilling (-200 m), transportation (-240 m) and haulage (-2502`0 m).
In the near future, the company plans to complete construction of two more major facilities - the skip shaft and the ventilation and auxiliary shaft. The total investment in the project will exceed 24 billion rubles.
