Tikhova mine started shipping coal by rail
Tikhova mine (part of Industrial Metallurgical Holding) shipped the first train with coal on a new railway, put into operation on the eve of Miner's Day.
The solemn ceremony was attended by Managing Director of the Tikhova mine Ivan Fadeev, Deputy Chief Engineer of the West-Siberian Railroad Nikolay Milovanov and Head of the Transport and Communications Department of Kemerovo Region Sergey Ruban.
Investments in infrastructure amounted to about RUB 1 bln. They included reconstruction of the Proektnaya station, located on public railways of the West-Siberian Railroad, construction of a non-public railway and the Tikhova station at mine itself. The railway length, taking into account dead ends, is 8.8 km.
The launch of infrastructure will allow the company to transport about 1.2 mln tons of coal by rail annually. In the future, the capacity of the road is planned to be expanded to increase transportation up to 2 mln tons of coal and above.
Availabitlity of railroad will allow the mine to reduce transportation costs, as well as to eliminate dependence on third-party enterprises for coal shipping by rail.
